Fillet welds of equal legs are used to fabricate a T as shown in figure 2. (w is the leg size and L the length of the weld). Locate the plane of maximum shear stress in each of the following loading pattern:
(i) Load parallel to the weld (neglect eccentricity.)
(ii) Load at right angles to the weld (transverse load).
Find the ratio of these limiting loads.
