A reaction turbine has to be designed to develop 370 kW under a head of 70 m while running at speed equal to 750 rpm. Given

Ratio of width of runner to the outer diameter of runner = 0.1

Ratio of inner diameter to the outer diameter = 0.5

Flow ratio = 0.15

Hydraulic efficiency, = 0.95

Mechanical efficiency = 84%

Circumferential area occupied by thickness of vanes = 5%

Assuming flow velocity constant, calculate guide vane angle at inlet and runner vane angle at inlet and out let. The radial velocity is equal to 3.5 m/sec
