During summer to cool water for drinking purpose, 2 kg of ice at –30C in an insulated container which is subjected to atmospheric pressure of 1 bar.

Assume specific heat of ice is 2.093 kJ/kg-K and latent heat of ice as 335 kJ/kg. Work out the following:

  1. Draw the system and show the process on T–Q for both ice and water
  2. The temperature of the mixture
  3. The change of entropy for instantaneous process.
