A saturated vapour compression refrigeration system is extracting heat from a thermal reservoir at –100C and rejecting het to another thermal reservoir t 360C. The saturation temperature of evaporator is –200C and that condenser is 460C. The mass flow rate of refrigerant (R-134a) is 0.1 kg/s. Assume environment temperature equal to 360C. Find :

  1. Refrigerating capacity in Tons
  2. Power input in kW
  3. COP
  4. COP of Carnot refrigeration cycle
  5. Second law efficiency of the cycle.

Compare with the help of T-S diagram, the vapour compression cycle and Carnot refrigeration cycle and show the deviation between the two cycles by shaded areas.
