An electric motor is to drive a compressor by a belt drive.

      H.P. to be transmitted = 10

      Centre distance between the pulleys = 1 metre

      Diameter of motor pulley = 20 cm

      Motor RPM           = 750

      Compressor RPM = 250

      Direction of rotation of both pulleys is same. Find the width of belt required if the permissible belt tension = 16 kgf / cm width. Coefficient of friction between the belt and the pulleys = 0.3. Neglect the effect of centrifugal tension.
