The lubricating oil used in a gear box of a compressor is being recirculated through a double pipe heat exchanger for cooling. The oil is to be cooled from 70oC to 40oC using water available at 28oC. Flow rate of the oil is 1000 kg/hr. Water exit temperature should not exceed 42oC. Cp of oil is 2.05 kJ/kg-K, Cp of water is 4.17 kJ/kg-K. Calculate the required water flow rate and the area of the heat exchanger. Assume counter flow. Also assume the overall heat transfer coefficient to be 300 W/m2K.
