(b) The following data released to a test trial of a single cylinder four-stroke gas engine:

  1. Cylinder dia. 24 cm. stroke length 48 cm.
  2. Compression ratio = 5.9
  3. Net brake load applied at brake wheel having an effective circumference of 3.86 m is 1260 N at average speed of 227 r.p.m.
  4. Number of explosions/minute = 77
  5. Gas used/mt at 771 of mercury and 150C = 0.217 cum
  6. Lower calorific value of gas at NTP = 49350kJ/m3.
  7. Mean effective pressure from indicator card = 7.5 bar
  8. Weight of Jacket cooling water/mt = 11 kg
  9. Temperature rise of cooling water = 34.2 0C
  10. Specific heat of water = 4.2 kJ/kg 0C

Estimate (i) mechanical efficiency, (ii) indicated thermal efficiency and (iii) efficiency ratio, and draw a heat balance sheet for the engine assuming hat exhaust gases carry away 24% of heat.
