The turning moment diagram of a multi-cylinder reciprocating engine is drawn to scale :

1 mm = 500 N-m, Y-axis and 1 mm = 40, X-axis.

              The areas above and below the mean torque line are :

+ 50, –120, +96, –140, +90, –70 and +95 mm2,

              when the engine is running at 1000 rpm. If the mean fluctuation of speed is not to exceed ± 1% of the mean speed, determine the mass of the flywheel of radius of gyration of 400 mm.
