Explain the term ‘interference’ as applied in involute gears. How could it be eliminated? Two standard full depth 14 ½0 involute gears have module of 5 mm. The pinion has 15 mm. The pinion has 15 teeth while the gear has 60 teeth. Addendum is equal to the module.

  1. Show that the gear will interfere with the pinion
  2. To what value should the pressure angle be increased in order to eliminate the interference?
