A converging–diverging nozzle is operated at a pressure difference which is not the design value for isentropic flow. As a consequence a normal shock is formed in the diverging portion. In this situation the Mach number at the throat is

(A) Less than 1           (B) More that 1

(C) Exactly 1

(D) Could be less or more than 1 depending on the pressure difference
