A steam of air flows in an insulated tube of constant cross-sectional area of 0.9 m2. At a section 1, the pressure is 0.6 bar, temperature is 220C and mass velocity is 150 kg/s-m2. The pressure in space in which tube exhausts is so low that choking condition prevails.

Determine,

  1. Match no. at section 1.
  2. Mach no, temperature and pressure at the exit of tube.
  3. Total force exerted in axial direction which must be exerted to hold the tube stationary.

Given, R = 287 J/kg-K ; $\gamma$ = 1.4

Fanno line (adiabatic constant area flow with friction) table $\gamma$ = 1.4
